Household Chemicals (Detergents & Cleaners)
We support manufacturers of household chemicals (cleaners, detergents, degreasers, air fresheners and other mixtures) with EU compliance documentation, portal submissions, and a practical market-entry strategy.
Key EU requirements
- CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 — classification, labeling and packaging of mixtures
- UFI + Poison Centre Notification (PCN) (Annex VIII to CLP) — mandatory for many hazardous mixtures; submitted via the ECHA portal
- Detergents Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 — ingredient/labeling obligations and biodegradability requirements (where applicable)
- REACH (EC) No 1907/2006 — SDS/eSDS, restrictions and supply-chain obligations
Why it’s getting more complex
Household chemicals compliance is not a “one-time label”. Requirements evolve due to updates in CLP hazard classification, stronger enforcement, and strict expectations for UFI/PCN accuracy and maintenance. In practice, your compliance must stay aligned with your formulation, packaging and intended use.
What we do
- Full compliance dossier: CLP classification (with rationale), labeling review, SDS/eSDS preparation/review
- Preparation of the full documentation package for CPN/PCN submission and UFI management
- PCN preparation and submission via the ECHA portal (turnkey), including updates when composition/packaging changes
- Detergents/REACH checks (where applicable) to prevent non-compliance at market surveillance
- EU-based support as a compliance contact point; where applicable, we can provide Only Representative (OR) under REACH
